I drive a EV, but I'm still concerned on gas prices and how this state operates. Road taxes are soon to be all over me!

Thanks for raising the point in your post about California gasoline taxes going up on July 1. I would bet most Californians are not aware of that. The actual increase in state excise tax will be 3.5 cents per gallon giving us a state excise tax of 39.5 cents per gallon on July 1. The other state gasoline taxes/fees are not entirely clear to me. I know there is a 2 cent per gallon State Underground Storage Tank Fee and a 2.25 percent sales tax which could be anywhere from 7.9 cents of $3.60 gasoline to 9.9 cents of $4.50 gasoline. So for $4 gasoline, we will be paying about 50.3 cents to the state and 18.4 cents to the feds for a total of 68.7 cents in taxes/fees. There are likely other taxes/fees which are part of that, but I haven't tracked those down yet.

Very Good! I got my MIEV in January and have about 5300 miles on it. Drive the crap out of it ;) 110V charging mostly, not many 220V around here except at the car dealer ships. 21 hrs if empty or 6 hrs on 220V. Live in an Apt. so I "borrow" my juice.

Hi, Yes we have an EV. We looked at the Volt but the driving position seems poor. Also the salesmen were quite incompetent and not interested in dealing. We got the Leaf in March and have 7500 miles on it. Love the car.
